- CVE-2026-15790, 16 Aug 2026
- The Youtube Showcase plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting in versions up to, and including, 4.0.4 via the 'emd_mb_meta' shortcode. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on attachment titles referenced by the shortcode's image field: EMD_MB_Helper::image_info() returns the attachment's raw post_title, and EMD_MB_Helper::shortcode() interpolates it into title="%s" HTML attributes via sprintf() without esc_attr(). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with author-level access and above (upload_files capability required to create the attachment, edit_posts/publish_posts to embed the shortcode), to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. - CVE-2026-12923, 1 Jul 2026
- The Youtube Showcase plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary Function Call in versions up to and including 4.0.3. This is due to insufficient validation of the 'path' parameter in the emd_delete_file() AJAX handler in includes/common-functions.php. The user-supplied value is passed through sanitize_text_field(), has its trailing '_PLUGIN_DIR' substring stripped, and is then invoked as a PHP function name with no arguments via `$sess_name()`. The handler is gated only by a nonce - no current_user_can() check is present - and the nonce is emitted on any front-end page that renders a form shortcode containing file fields. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to invoke arbitrary zero-argument PHP functions (such as phpinfo, phpversion, get_defined_vars, error_get_last), resulting in sensitive information disclosure and potential further compromise depending on the functions available in the environment. - CVE-2024-3268, 21 May 2024
- The YouTube Video Gallery by YouTube Showcase - Video Gallery Plugin for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the emd_form_builder_lite_submit_form function in all versions up to, and including, 3.3.6. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to create arbitrary posts or pages. CVE record
What to do if you run Video Gallery
If you run Video Gallery, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.
If no fixed version exists, consider disabling and removing the plugin or replacing it with a maintained alternative. After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
