Why WordPress needs a specialist, not a generalist

Core, theme, plugins, PHP: we work across every layer

WordPress problems have WordPress causes

A typical business site runs WordPress core, a theme and 15 to 30 plugins from different developers, all moving at different speeds on top of PHP and MySQL. When something breaks, the cause is usually the interaction between those layers, not any one of them. Generalist IT support switches plugins off until the symptom disappears. We read the error logs, find the actual conflict and fix the cause, so it stays fixed.

  • White screens and critical errors traced through server logs, not guesswork
  • Plugin conflicts reproduced on a staging copy before we touch your live site
  • Fixes documented so the same fault never surprises you twice

Controlled updates beat blind auto-updates

Updates and PHP moves, without the breakage

Most WordPress damage is self-inflicted: an update batch applied blind, or a hosting company force-upgrading PHP under a site that was never tested for it. PHP 8.1 security support ended in December 2025, so staying still is no longer safe either. Our weekly WordPress maintenance routine applies updates in a controlled order with backups first and checks after, and our PHP upgrades are rehearsed on staging before they go anywhere near production.

  • Backup taken before every update run, restore point always ready
  • Visual and functional checks on key pages after each cycle
  • PHP compatibility audited plugin by plugin before upgrading

Frequently asked questions

What does WordPress support include?

Everything the platform throws at you: core, plugin and theme updates, plugin conflict diagnosis, white screen and error fixes, PHP compatibility work, security patching, backups, speed tuning and small development changes. Our plans bundle it into one monthly price with a UK engineer on the end of the phone.

Why is my WordPress site showing a white screen?

The white screen of death is almost always a fatal PHP error: a plugin conflict after an update, a theme function that broke on a newer PHP version, or memory exhaustion. We diagnose it from the server error logs, disable the failing component safely and apply a proper fix rather than just switching plugins off and hoping.

Can a plugin update break my WordPress website?

Yes, and it is the most common failure we see. Two plugins can each work fine but clash with each other, or an update can drop support for your PHP version or theme. That is why we update in a controlled sequence with backups beforehand and visual checks afterwards, never in one blind batch.

How much does WordPress support cost in the UK?

One-off fixes typically cost £75 to £150 an hour at UK agencies. Our monthly plans are £59, £119 and £249 excluding VAT, which include updates, backups, monitoring and fix time. A single prevented incident usually covers months of the fee. Everything is listed on our pricing page.

Do you fix hacked WordPress sites?

Yes. Our malware removal service finds and removes infections, closes the backdoors, requests Google blacklist removal and hardens the site afterwards, with a 30-day re-infection guarantee. Support plan clients get security scanning that usually catches trouble first.

Which PHP version should my WordPress site run?

PHP 8.2 or newer. PHP 8.1 security support ended on 31 December 2025, so sites still on it are running unpatched. Upgrading blind can break older themes and plugins, which is why we test compatibility on a staging copy first. See our PHP upgrade service for the safe route.
