- CVE-2024-6694, 20 Jul 2024
- The WP Mail SMTP plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to information exposure in all versions up to, and including, 4.0.1. This is due to plugin providing the SMTP password in the SMTP Password field when viewing the settings. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrative-level access and above, to view the SMTP password for the supplied server. Although this would not be useful for attackers in most cases, if an administrator account becomes compromised this could be useful information to an attacker in a limited environment. CVE record
- CVE-2023-3213, 4 Oct 2023
- The WP Mail SMTP Pro plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access of data due to a missing capability check on the is_print_page function in versions up to, and including, 3.8.0. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to disclose potentially sensitive email information. CVE record
What to do if you run WP Mail SMTP by WPForms
If you run WP Mail SMTP by WPForms, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.

After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
