CVE-2026-14876, 30 Sep 2026
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'data-href' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.38 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
CVE-2026-15798, 28 Aug 2026
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'slider' Block Attribute in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.38 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The injected scripts execute specifically when a user opens the affected post in the WordPress block editor, making Editors and Administrators the primary targets. CVE record
CVE-2026-12385, 13 Jul 2026
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Sensitive Information Exposure in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.37 via the 'keyword' parameter. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to extract titles and full content excerpts of private, draft, pending, trashed, and auto-draft posts authored by any user, including Administrators and Editors. The required nonce is emitted on /wp-admin/post-new.php, which is accessible to Contributor-level users via the edit_posts capability, meaning any Contributor can obtain the nonce needed to trigger the injection. CVE record
CVE-2026-9197, 6 Jun 2026
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Directory Traversal in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.36 via the replaceHTMLImage function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level access and above, to read the contents of arbitrary files on the server, which can contain sensitive information. CVE record
CVE-2026-4065, 7 Apr 2026
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access and modification of data due to missing capability checks on multiple wp_ajax_smart-slider3 controller actions in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.33. The display_admin_ajax() method does not call checkForCap() (which requires unfiltered_html capability), and several controller actions only validate the nonce (validateToken()) without calling validatePermission(). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to enumerate slider metadata and create, modify, and delete image storage records by obtaining the nextend_nonce exposed on post editor pages. CVE record
CVE-2026-3098, 27 Mar 2026
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Read in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.33 via the 'actionExportAll' function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to read the contents of arbitrary files on the server, which can contain sensitive information. CVE record
CVE-2025-6348, 30 Jul 2025
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based SQL Injection via the ‘sliderid’ parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.28 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Administrator-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. CVE record
CVE-2024-3027, 13 Apr 2024
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the upload function in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.22. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to upload files, including SVG files, which can be used to conduct stored cross-site scripting attacks. CVE record
CVE-2023-0660, 27 Mar 2023
The Smart Slider 3 WordPress plugin before 3.5.1.14 does not properly validate and escape some of its shortcode attributes before outputting them back in a page/post where the shortcode is embed, which could allow users with the contributor role and above to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks CVE record
CVE-2022-3357, 31 Oct 2022
The Smart Slider 3 WordPress plugin before 3.5.1.11 unserialises the content of an imported file, which could lead to PHP object injection issues when a user import (intentionally or not) a malicious file, and a suitable gadget chain is present on the site. CVE record

What to do if you run Smart Slider 3

If you run Smart Slider 3, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.

If no fixed version exists, consider disabling and removing the plugin or replacing it with a maintained alternative. After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
