- CVE-2026-6817, 2 May 2026
- The Quiz Maker by AYS plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'rate_reason' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 6.7.1.29 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
- CVE-2026-2384, 20 Feb 2026
- The Quiz Maker plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's `vc_quizmaker` shortcode in all versions up to, and including, 6.7.1.7 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Note: This vulnerability requires WPBakery Page Builder to be installed and active CVE record
- CVE-2025-12426, 19 Nov 2025
- The Quiz Maker plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Sensitive Information Exposure in all versions up to, and including, 6.7.0.80. This is due to the plugin exposing quiz answers through the ays_quiz_check_answer AJAX action without proper authorization checks. The endpoint only validates a nonce, but that same nonce is publicly available to all site visitors via the quiz_maker_ajax_public localized script data. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to extract sensitive data including quiz answers for any quiz question. CVE record
- CVE-2025-10042, 17 Sep 2025
- The Quiz Maker plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via spoofed IP headers in all versions up to, and including, 6.7.0.56 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. This is only exploitable in configurations where the server is set up to retrieve the IP from a user-supplied field like `X-Forwarded-For` and limit users by IP is enabled. CVE record
- CVE-2024-8617, 15 May 2025
- The Quiz Maker WordPress plugin before 6.5.9.9 does not sanitize and escape some of its settings, which could allow high-privilege users such as admin to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks even when the unfiltered_html capability is disallowed (for example in multisite setup) CVE record
- CVE-2024-10628, 26 Jan 2025
- The Quiz Maker Business, Developer, and Agency plugins for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via the ‘id’ parameter in all versions up to, and including, 8.8.0 (Business), up to, and including, 21.8.0 (Developer), and up to, and including, 31.8.0 (Agency) due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. NOTE: The three variations of this software (Business, Developer, and Agency) share the same plugin slug, so you may get an alert even if you are running the latest version of any of the pieces of software. In these cases it is safe to dismiss the notice once you've confirmed your site is on a patched version of the applicable software. CVE record
- CVE-2024-6028, 25 Jun 2024
- The Quiz Maker plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based SQL Injection via the 'ays_questions' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 6.5.8.3 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. CVE record
- CVE-2024-1079, 7 Feb 2024
- The Quiz Maker plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access of data due to a missing capability check on the ays_show_results() function in all versions up to, and including, 6.5.2.4. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to fetch arbitrary quiz results which can contain PII. CVE record
- CVE-2024-1078, 7 Feb 2024
- The Quiz Maker plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the ays_quick_start() and add_question_rows() functions in all versions up to, and including, 6.5.2.4. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to create arbitrary quizzes. CVE record
- CVE-2024-22027, 12 Jan 2024
- Improper input validation vulnerability in WordPress Quiz Maker Plugin prior to 6.5.0.6 allows a remote authenticated attacker to perform a Denial of Service (DoS) attack against external services. CVE record
- CVE-2023-6155, 26 Dec 2023
- The Quiz Maker WordPress plugin before 6.4.9.5 does not adequately authorize the `ays_quiz_author_user_search` AJAX action, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to perform a search for users of the system, ultimately leaking user email addresses. CVE record
- CVE-2023-6166, 26 Dec 2023
- The Quiz Maker WordPress plugin before 6.4.9.5 does not escape generated URLs before outputting them in attributes, leading to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting CVE record
- CVE-2023-2571, 5 Jun 2023
- The Quiz Maker WordPress plugin before 6.4.2.7 does not escape some parameters before outputting them back in attributes, leading to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting which could be used against high privilege users such as admin CVE record
- CVE-2021-24456, 2 Aug 2021
- The Quiz Maker WordPress plugin before 6.2.0.9 did not properly sanitise and escape the order and orderby parameters before using them in SQL statements, leading to SQL injection issues in the admin dashboard CVE record
What to do if you run Quiz Maker by AYS
If you run Quiz Maker by AYS, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.
