CVE-2026-16264, 23 Sep 2026
The Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.18.1 does not perform an ownership check on some of its subscriber management actions, and issues a management session to unauthenticated visitors on request, allowing attackers to read any subscriber's personal data and overwrite any subscriber's record including their email address. CVE record
CVE-2026-17520, 29 Aug 2026
The Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.17 does not generate its API key using a sufficiently random source, deriving it from a publicly known value, allowing unauthenticated attackers to compute the key and perform privileged actions such as adding and deleting subscribers and sending emails, when the optional API has been enabled. CVE record
CVE-2026-17522, 29 Aug 2026
The Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.17 does not perform any nonce or capability check when saving one of its settings screens, and writes every submitted parameter into its own options, allowing attackers to make a logged in administrator overwrite arbitrary Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.17 settings, including the credential protecting its API, via a Cross-Site Request Forgery attack. CVE record
CVE-2026-75908, 25 Aug 2026
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 4.17. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with author-level access and above, to send arbitrary newsletter emails to users of any WordPress role, including administrators, by forging POST fields during a normal post submission. This allows an attacker-supplied role slug via the newsletters_mailinglistsroles POST field to be passed directly to get_users(), enabling unauthorized mass-mailing and potential phishing against privileged site users through the site's own outbound email channel. CVE record
CVE-2026-16267, 8 Aug 2026
The Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.16 does not restrict the classes allowed when unserialising a value taken from a public form submission, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary PHP objects. CVE record
CVE-2026-16269, 8 Aug 2026
The Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.16 does not strictly compare its API authentication key, allowing unauthenticated attackers to bypass the API authentication via type juggling and perform privileged actions such as modifying subscriber records and sending emails, when the optional API has been enabled. CVE record
CVE-2026-16268, 6 Aug 2026
The Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.16 does not authenticate or validate a bounce-processing request before fetching a user-supplied URL on the server side, allowing unauthenticated attackers to make the site issue requests to arbitrary internal or external hosts. CVE record
CVE-2026-12939, 29 Jul 2026
The Newsletters Lite plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'link' attribute of the post_thumbnail (and newsletters_post_thumbnail) shortcodes in versions up to and including 4.15. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the post_thumbnail() method in helpers/shortcode.php, which concatenates the user-controlled $link shortcode attribute directly into an href attribute without esc_url() or esc_attr(). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
CVE-2026-12938, 29 Jul 2026
The Newsletters Lite plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'target' attribute of the [newsletters_post] shortcode in versions up to and including 4.15. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the posts_single() function which propagates the attacker-controlled 'target' attribute into the global $wpml_target, and in the shortcode_posts() 'post_thumbnail' handler which concatenates $wpml_target into a target="..." HTML attribute without esc_attr(). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
CVE-2026-12583, 14 Jul 2026
The Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.15 does not prevent deserialization of untrusted input that is stored through a public form, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject a PHP object and, via a property-oriented gadget chain bundled with the Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.15, write arbitrary files and execute code on the server. CVE record
CVE-2026-3018, 10 Jun 2026
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based SQL Injection via the ‘wpmlsubscriber_id’ parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.13 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. CVE record
CVE-2025-4857, 31 May 2025
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Local File Inclusion in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.9.9 via the 'file' parameter. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Administrator-level access and above, to include and execute arbitrary files on the server, allowing the execution of any PHP code in those files. This can be used to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, or achieve code execution in cases where images and other “safe” file types can be uploaded and included. CVE record
CVE-2025-3107, 13 May 2025
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based SQL Injection via the ‘orderby' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.9.8 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. CVE record
CVE-2025-2009, 26 Mar 2025
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the logging functionality in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.9.7 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
CVE-2024-13739, 22 Mar 2025
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the "to" parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.9.7 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick an admin user into performing an action such as clicking on a link. CVE record
CVE-2024-10181, 29 Oct 2024
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's newsletters_video shortcode in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.9.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
CVE-2024-8247, 6 Sep 2024
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.9.2. This is due to the plugin not restricting what user meta can be updated as screen options. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to escalate their privileges to that of an administrator. Please note that this only affects users with access to edit/update screen options, which means an administrator would need to grant lower privilege users with access to the Sent & Draft Emails page of the plugin in order for this to be exploited. CVE record
CVE-2024-7411, 15 Aug 2024
The Newsletters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Full Path Disclosure in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.9. This is due the plugin not preventing direct access to the /vendor/mobiledetect/mobiledetectlib/export/exportToJSON.php. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to retrieve the full path of the web application, which can be used to aid other attacks. The information displayed is not useful on its own, and requires another vulnerability to be present for damage to an affected website. CVE record
CVE-2023-4797, 16 Jan 2024
The Newsletters WordPress plugin before 4.9.3 does not properly escape user-controlled parameters when they are appended to SQL queries and shell commands, which could enable an administrator to run arbitrary commands on the server. CVE record
CVE-2018-20987, 22 Aug 2019
The newsletters-lite plugin before 4.6.8.6 for WordPress has PHP object injection. CVE record
CVE-2019-14788, 15 Aug 2019
wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=newsletters_exportmultiple in the Tribulant Newsletters plugin before 4.6.19 for WordPress allows directory traversal with resultant remote PHP code execution via the subscribers[1][1] parameter in conjunction with an exportfile=../ value. CVE record
CVE-2019-14787, 9 Aug 2019
The Tribulant Newsletters plugin before 4.6.19 for WordPress allows XSS via the wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=newsletters_load_new_editor contentarea parameter. CVE record

What to do if you run Newsletters

If you run Newsletters, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.

If no fixed version exists, consider disabling and removing the plugin or replacing it with a maintained alternative. After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
