- CVE-2026-12434, 16 Jul 2026
- The List category posts plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Sensitive Information Exposure in all versions up to, and including, 0.95.0 via the sanitize_status. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to extract titles, full content, excerpts, dates, authors, and custom-field metadata of other users' pending-review, scheduled, and trashed posts by embedding a crafted [catlist] shortcode in their own draft and previewing it. This vulnerability is a bypass of the incomplete fix introduced for CVE-2025-11377 in version 0.93.0. CVE record
- CVE-2026-3005, 9 Apr 2026
- The List category posts plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'catlist' shortcode in all versions up to, and including, 0.94.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
- CVE-2025-10163, 11 Dec 2025
- The List category posts plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based SQL Injection via the ‘starting_with’ parameter of the catlist shortcode in all versions up to, and including, 0.91.0 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. CVE record
- CVE-2025-11377, 1 Nov 2025
- The List category posts plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Information Exposure in all versions up to, and including, 0.92.0 via the 'catlist' shortcode due to insufficient restrictions on which posts can be included. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to extract data from password protected, private, or draft posts that they should not have access to. CVE record
- CVE-2024-9020, 18 Jan 2025
- The List category posts WordPress plugin before 0.90.3 does not validate and escape some of its shortcode attributes before outputting them back in a page/post where the shortcode is embed, which could allow users with the contributor role and above to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. CVE record
- CVE-2024-1051, 30 Mar 2024
- The List category posts plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'catlist' shortcode in all versions up to, and including, 0.89.6 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes like 'title_tag'. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. What to do if you run List category posts
If you run List category posts, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.
If no fixed version exists, consider disabling and removing the plugin or replacing it with a maintained alternative. After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
