CVE-2026-10089, 2 Jul 2026
The Insert Pages plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via post custom field keys (meta key names) in all versions up to, and including, 3.11.4. This is due to insufficient output escaping in the the_meta() function: while the custom field VALUE is sanitized with wp_kses_post(), the custom field KEY ($key) is interpolated into the rendered HTML (lines 1786-1791) and echoed (line 1806) without any escaping when an inserted page is rendered with the [insert page='ID' display='all'] shortcode. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with author-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
CVE-2022-4483, 16 Jan 2023
The Insert Pages WordPress plugin before 3.7.5 does not validate and escape some of its shortcode attributes before outputting them back in the page, which could allow users with a role as low as contributor to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks which could be used against high privilege users such as admins. CVE record
CVE-2021-24850, 17 Nov 2021
The Insert Pages WordPress plugin before 3.7.0 adds a shortcode that prints out other pages' content and custom fields. It can be used by users with a role as low as Contributor to perform Cross-Site Scripting attacks by storing the payload/s in another post's custom fields. CVE record
CVE-2021-24851, 17 Nov 2021
The Insert Pages WordPress plugin before 3.7.0 allows users with a role as low as Contributor to access content and metadata from arbitrary posts/pages regardless of their author and status (ie private), using a shortcode. Password protected posts/pages are not affected by such issue. CVE record
CVE-2017-18586, 22 Aug 2019
The insert-pages plugin before 3.2.4 for WordPress has directory traversal via custom template paths. CVE record

What to do if you run Insert Pages

If you run Insert Pages, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.

If no fixed version exists, consider disabling and removing the plugin or replacing it with a maintained alternative. After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
