CVE-2026-7552, 28 May 2026
The Geo Mashup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 1.13.19. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to expose sensitive plugin configuration data, including Google Maps API keys and GeoNames service credentials, to unauthenticated attackers. CVE record
CVE-2026-4061, 2 May 2026
The Geo Mashup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Time-Based SQL Injection via the 'map_post_type' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.13.18. This is due to the `SearchResults` hook explicitly calling `stripslashes_deep($_POST)` which removes WordPress magic quotes protection, followed by the unsanitized `map_post_type` value being concatenated into an `IN(...)` clause without `esc_sql()` or `$wpdb->prepare()`. The 'any' branch of the same code correctly applies `array_map('esc_sql', ...)`, but the else branch does not. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database via a time-based blind approach. Exploitation requires the Geo Search feature to be enabled in plugin settings. CVE record
CVE-2026-4062, 2 May 2026
The Geo Mashup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Time-Based SQL Injection via the 'object_ids' and 'exclude_object_ids' parameters in all versions up to, and including, 1.13.18. This is due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameters and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. The `esc_sql()` function is applied but is ineffective because the values are placed in an unquoted `IN(...)` / `NOT IN(...)` SQL context - `esc_sql()` only escapes quote characters and provides no protection against parenthesis or SQL keyword injection. Additionally, while a numeric-only sanitizer exists in `sanitize_query_args()`, it is only applied in the AJAX code path and not in the `render-map.php` or template tag code paths. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database via a time-based blind approach. CVE-2026-4060, 2 May 2026
The Geo Mashup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Time-Based SQL Injection via the 'sort' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.13.18. This is due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. The `esc_sql()` function is applied but is ineffective in the `ORDER BY` context because the value is not enclosed in quotes. Additionally, while a `sanitize_sort_arg()` allowlist-based sanitizer was added in version 1.13.18, it is only applied in the AJAX code path (`sanitize_query_args()`) and not in the `render-map.php` or template tag code paths. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database via a time-based blind approach. CVE record
CVE-2026-6457, 2 May 2026
The Geo Mashup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based blind SQL Injection via the 'geo_mashup_null_fields' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.13.19 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. CVE record
CVE-2026-2416, 25 Feb 2026
The Geo Mashup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via the 'sort' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.13.17. This is due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. CVE record
CVE-2024-8990, 1 Oct 2024
The Geo Mashup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's geo_mashup_visible_posts_list shortcode in all versions up to, and including, 1.13.13 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. CVE record
CVE-2018-14071, 16 Jul 2018
The Geo Mashup plugin before 1.10.4 for WordPress has insufficient sanitization of post editor and other user input. CVE record
CVE-2015-1383, 2 Feb 2015
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the geo search widget in the Geo Mashup plugin before 1.8.3 for WordPress allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the search key. CVE record

What to do if you run Geo Mashup

If you run Geo Mashup, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.

If no fixed version exists, consider disabling and removing the plugin or replacing it with a maintained alternative. After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
