CVE-2026-11565, 19 Aug 2026
The Advanced File Manager WordPress plugin before 5.4.13 does not perform capability checks in several of its file management AJAX actions, allowing users with any role to which an administrator has granted file-manager access (as low as Subscriber) to read arbitrary files on the server - including sensitive configuration files - and to overwrite existing non-PHP files, which can be leveraged to compromise administrator accounts and the whole site. CVE record
CVE-2026-15009, 16 Aug 2026
The Advanced File Manager - Ultimate File Manager for WordPress And Document Library Solution plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'soundFile' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 5.4.12 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires the attacker to control a domain whose origin string is a leading prefix of the target site's backend URL (e.g. https://example.co against https://example.com), and the victim must be an authenticated WordPress administrator who visits the attacker-controlled page while the File Manager admin screen is open. CVE record
CVE-2025-0818, 13 Aug 2025
Several WordPress plugins using elFinder versions 2.1.64 and prior are vulnerable to Directory Traversal in various versions. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires a site owner to explicitly make an instance of the file manager available to users. CVE record
CVE-2024-13805, 7 Mar 2025
The Advanced File Manager - Ultimate WordPress File Manager and Document Library Plugin plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via SVG File uploads in all versions up to, and including, 5.2.14 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, and granted permissions by an Administrator, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses the SVG file. CVE record
CVE-2024-13333, 17 Jan 2025
The Advanced File Manager plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in the 'fma_local_file_system' function in versions 5.2.12 to 5.2.13. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above and upload permissions granted by an administrator, to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server which may make remote code execution possible. The function can be exploited only if the "Display .htaccess?" setting is enabled. CVE record
CVE-2024-11391, 3 Dec 2024
The Advanced File Manager plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation via the 'class_fma_connector.php' file in all versions up to, and including, 5.2.10. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, and granted permissions by an Administrator, to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server which may make remote code execution possible. CVE record
CVE-2024-8126, 26 Sep 2024
The Advanced File Manager plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads via the 'class_fma_connector.php' file in all versions up to, and including, 5.2.8. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, and granted permissions by an Administrator, to upload a new .htaccess file allowing them to subsequently upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server which may make remote code execution possible. CVE record
CVE-2024-8704, 26 Sep 2024
The Advanced File Manager plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Local JavaScript File Inclusion in all versions up to, and including, 5.2.8 via the 'fma_locale' parameter. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Administrator-level access and above, to include and execute arbitrary files on the server, allowing the execution of any PHP code in those files. This can be used to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, or achieve code execution in cases where images and other “safe” file types can be uploaded and included. CVE record
CVE-2024-8725, 26 Sep 2024
Multiple plugins and/or themes for WordPress are vulnerable to Limited File Upload in various versions. This is due to a lack of proper checks to ensure lower-privileged roles cannot upload .css and .js files to arbitrary directories. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, and granted permissions by an administrator, to upload .css and .js files to any directory within the WordPress root directory, which could lead to Stored Cross-Site Scripting. The Advanced File Manager Shortcodes plugin must be installed to exploit this vulnerability. CVE record
CVE-2024-5598, 29 Jun 2024
The Advanced File Manager plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Sensitive Information Exposure in all versions up to, and including, 5.2.4 via the 'fma_local_file_system' function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to extract sensitive data including backups or other sensitive information if the files have been moved to the built-in Trash folder. CVE record
CVE-2023-3814, 4 Sep 2023
The Advanced File Manager WordPress plugin before 5.1.1 does not adequately authorize its usage on multisite installations, allowing site admin users to list and read arbitrary files and folders on the server. CVE record

What to do if you run Advanced File Manager

If you run Advanced File Manager, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.

If no fixed version exists, consider disabling and removing the plugin or replacing it with a maintained alternative. After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
