CVE-2026-14236, 27 Jul 2026
The Contact Form 7 WordPress plugin before 2.5 does not validate the host of a user-supplied return URL before using it as the success and cancel redirect targets of a Stripe checkout, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to redirect a victim, via a crafted link, to an arbitrary external site after the checkout flow. CVE record
CVE-2025-14842, 7 Jan 2026
The Drag and Drop Multiple File Upload - Contact Form 7 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to limited upload of files with a dangerous type in all versions up to, and including, 1.3.9.2. This is due to the plugin not blocking .phar and .svg files. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary .phar or .svg files containing malicious PHP or JavaScript code. Malicious PHP code can be used to achieve remote code execution on the server via direct file access, if the server is configured to execute .phar files as PHP. The upload of .svg files allows for Stored Cross-Site Scripting under certain circumstances. CVE record
CVE-2025-3247, 16 Apr 2025
The Contact Form 7 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Order Replay in all versions up to, and including, 6.0.5 via the 'wpcf7_stripe_skip_spam_check' function due to insufficient validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to reuse a single Stripe PaymentIntent for multiple transactions. Only the first transaction is processed via Stripe, but the plugin sends a successful email message for each transaction, which may trick an administrator into fulfilling each order. CVE record
CVE-2024-4704, 27 Jun 2024
The Contact Form 7 WordPress plugin before 5.9.5 has an open redirect that allows an attacker to utilize a false URL and redirect to the URL of their choosing. CVE record
CVE-2024-2242, 13 Mar 2024
The Contact Form 7 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the ‘active-tab’ parameter in all versions up to, and including, 5.9 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a link. CVE record
CVE-2023-6630, 11 Jan 2024
The Contact Form 7 - Dynamic Text Extension plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 4.1.0 via the CF7_get_custom_field and CF7_get_current_user shortcodes due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with contributor access or higher to access arbitrary metadata of any post type, referencing the post by id and the meta by key. CVE record
CVE-2023-6449, 1 Dec 2023
The Contact Form 7 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to insufficient file type validation in the 'validate' function and insufficient blocklisting on the 'wpcf7_antiscript_file_name' function in versions up to, and including, 5.8.3. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with editor-level capabilities or above to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server, but due to the htaccess configuration, remote code cannot be executed in most cases. By default, the file will be deleted from the server immediately. However, in some cases, other plugins may make it possible for the file to live on the server longer. This can make remote code execution possible when combined with another vulnerability, such as local file inclusion. CVE record
CVE-2021-24159, 5 Apr 2021
Due to the lack of sanitization and lack of nonce protection on the custom CSS feature, an attacker could craft a request to inject malicious JavaScript on a site using the Contact Form 7 Style WordPress plugin through 3.1.9. If an attacker successfully tricked a site’s administrator into clicking a link or attachment, then the request could be sent and the CSS settings would be successfully updated to include malicious JavaScript. CVE record
CVE-2020-35489, 17 Dec 2020
The contact-form-7 (aka Contact Form 7) plugin before 5.3.2 for WordPress allows Unrestricted File Upload and remote code execution because a filename may contain special characters. CVE record
CVE-2018-20979, 22 Aug 2019
The contact-form-7 plugin before 5.0.4 for WordPress has privilege escalation because of capability_type mishandling in register_post_type. CVE record

What to do if you run Contact Form 7

If you run Contact Form 7, open WordPress and check the installed version in Plugins. Compare it with the affected versions in the vulnerability record. If a fixed version is available, take a current backup and update to that version or the latest supported release.

If no fixed version exists, consider disabling and removing the plugin or replacing it with a maintained alternative. After dealing with the affected software, check administrator users, unexpected file changes, redirects, unfamiliar pages and security logs for signs that the site may already have been altered.
